A local church asks the public to attend the Big Tabernacle for the last revival services of the week ending Sunday night July 5 1925. The Sunday morning 11 o clock service will preach Practical Holiness and the Sunday night final message Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.
Mrs. W. H. Turner and her young son visited Walnut Springs from the previous Thursday for a few hours and arranged for the Record to be mailed to their new address, indicating a likely return to Walnut Springs. Mrs. J. N. Fallis and her son Frank were in Temple last Friday for tonsil removal, with Frank returning today for a specialist’s examination to assess progress and the need for nose trouble treatment.
J A Jeans buys the home of John G Bekken this week and plans to move his family in once possession is available. Bekken and family will return to Waco in a few days to resume residence there.
Paul Gilliam of Hamilton spent a brief Monday visit with friends and relatives, stopping for a short time to catch up with hometown connections.
Dave Hutchison died June 25 at his Bosque county home after a long illness. Born May 5, 1876, he was 49 years old. He married Stella Reed on December 26, 1896. nine children survive. Funeral held at the home then Greenlawn cemetery near Whitney, conducted by Rev. C. F. Brown.
Mr. O. K. Rea announces the marriage of his daughter Mary Nell to Ellis Dawkins on Monday evening June 22, 1925. This family notice confirms the union and date in a local society item.
The Clifton Business Men's Club met at the call of President Jack Tucker with eighteen members and one visitor, Bro. J. L. Spears. They plan monthly trades days on the fourth Wednesday, a big auction sale with at least seventy five items, and a third Thursday luncheon discussing community problems. An Austin trip supported a Bosque County highway delegation seeking designation for a route from San Antonio via Lampasas and Gatesville. the highway department hinted approval at the next designation meeting.
The Parent-Teacher Association expresses gratitude to all who supported the sandwich and pie sale last Saturday. They note nearly forty dollars in proceeds and thank Mr Cor many for ice donations and Show firm for posters rocking chairs and an electric fan. The PTA invites mothers to July meeting at Mrs J M Jenson’s home to discuss improving Clifton public schools.
Mrs A Landgraf aged 57 died at her home in the Coyote community on Saturday June 27 after several days illness and a period in a Waco sanitarium. Funeral services were held at 11 Saturday morning from the family residence conducted by Rev Theo Pfundt and burial followed in German church cemetery. A husband and a large family of children survive. The Record extends sincere sympathy.
All barber shops in Clifton will be closed Saturday July 4. Customers are advised to get barber work done on Friday. Shops will stay open Friday night until 10 30.
Last Saturday's event in Clifton drew a large crowd with foot races, boxing contests, and an auction that saw high bids like a sack of flour selling for 140 dollars in red ball money. The Booster Band energized the crowd from morning to night as prizes were awarded to local participants.
Our congregations are holding up through warm Sundays with rest and worship offered. Preaching both morning and evening, Sunday School at 10 a.m., Epworth League at 7:30 p.m. T. G. Story, P. C.
Liberal reward for a male fawn and white collie pup missing from home on the night of June 27. Owner Mrs. C. B. McCoy requests informants leading to recovery.
The church invites all children under seventy five to a Sunday morning service with a children’s sermon and singing. An evening sermon titled The Vanity of the Worldly Life questions if earthly pursuits are worth eternal consequences. Sunday school 9 45 preaching 11 00 am and 8 00 pm.
W. V. Eagle spent a day in Glen Rose visiting his wife and son Virgil along with other relatives. He noted he must return home to spend another week alone as the family did not complete their visit.
Mr J S Byrd formerly of the Roswell Scene now a ginner in Merkel Texas was in Clifton yesterday. He says crop prospects are good in his community.
Prof J C Wilkerson and family leave the first of the week for Rockdale where he will serve as superintendent of the public schools. Clifton friends join the Record in wishing them happiness in their new home.
Registration for the 1925-26 term at the University of Texas will be held on Monday and Tuesday, September 21 and 22. First year students must attend a campus meeting and should arrive by September 19 for that purpose.
R F Moore drove from Hamilton Saturday night and returned Sunday with Mrs Moore and their son Milton who had stayed a few days. Moore works in Hamilton's grain business and does not expect to purchase much on the local market this season.
Mr and Mrs W T Loftland and children Mary Earle and Billie from Vernon spent a few days visiting relatives and friends. Mr Loftland is superintendent of Vernon schools. Miss Earle Baldridge once lived in Clifton and worked as a typist in the Record office.
Ben Hartley and his son Frederick from Waco visited Clifton on Tuesday and used the Record office as their headquarters during the stay.
Twenty five relatives and friends from Hillsboro and Itasca joined in a park dinner to celebrate Miss Lurine Linn's tenth birthday, reporting a most delightful time.
