R 8S Clement announces July 1 1920 as the start of his association with Clifton Mercantile Co as Active Vice President. He has spent nineteen years in Clifton business circles and invites friends to call at the store for service. The Clifton Mercantile Co praises his public service and dedication.
The notices announce Sunday school at 9 45 a m and regular services at 11 a m and 8 15 p m with Christian Endeavor at 7 15 p m Prayer Meeting and Choir Practice on Wednesday evenings. A Scandinavian Lutheran English language service is set for Sunday July 4 at 10 30 a m with Sunday school at 9 30 a m and full attendance desired.
A special Clifton election elected J. N. Hill and P. E. Schow as mayoral candidates with Schow winning 116 to 96. Aldermen W. C. Hurst and C. G. Bronstad were elected with little opposition, reflecting rapid town growth and community interest.

Work to gravel the Meridian Highway south of Clifton began this week using large government trucks. The project progresses well and local residents praise the effort and early results.

Elsie, Hamilton High School graduate, and Strickland, longtime Hamilton Tire and Rubber Co. associate, were praised by friends.
The Immanuel Lutheran Church holds a Sunday service at 10 a.m. on July 4 with a celebration of the Lord's Supper. Announcements should be received at the parsonage one hour before the service begins.
Clifton Texas business leaders join in a coordinated closing on Monday July 5 1920 so employees may enjoy a day off since July 4 falls on Sunday. Participating firms include Hurst Son Clifton Mercantile Show Brothers First Guaranty State Bank and many local businesses.

S. M. Baskin, candidate for County Commissioner Precinct 4, withdraws from the race to focus on his growing crop. He thanks supporters and recalls the kindness of citizens during the campaign.

M. L. Lambert sold his western Clifton farm to Jap Fallis of this city. Fallis has long favored farming and friends expect him to thrive as a farmer when he moves out with his family later this year.

Infant Ray C. Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. R L Golden, died June 29 1920. Funeral at the Christian Church June 30 with Eld J S Newman officiating. Large crowd attended as scripture quoted urged viewing death as a gateway to immortality and solace for the bereaved.
J. 8. Newman states he will be away in meetings all of July and will return by the first Sunday in August to resume work. He hopes to devote his time to the church work after August 1.
A wedding of interest to Clifton friends occurred Wednesday June 30 at the home of O. K. Res in Hamilton, where Miss Helen Res became Mrs Jessie Bronsted of Clifton. After a short wedding trip they will reside at the groom’s father C. C. Bronstad’s home near Clifton. Friends extend sincere good wishes for lasting happiness.
