Old Iron Bridges Across Bosque and Steeles Creek Replaced
In 1969 a decades old iron bridge across Steeles Creek near Morgan was demolished and replaced by a modern concrete structure. The 1914 bridge in Precinct 2 recalls Luke Sheppard’s tenure, with other 19th and early 20th century iron spans noted from Morgan to Eulogy and along the Brazos. Local memories describe river crossings, floods, and a gradual shift to sturdier, higher bridges to handle heavier trucks.
