Clifton Girls Stay Undefeated In District Play
Clifton High School girls win two district games this week against Itasca and Mansfield to remain undefeated in district play with three straight victories. Nina Blankenship led Clifton in both girls games, while Doris Kanz and Roberta Prescher fouled out in the close Mansfield victory 44 to 43. The Clifton boys split games, beating Itasca 48 to 29 and losing to Mansfield 48 to 40, moving to two wins and one defeat in district play. Clifton travels to Alvarado January 20 and Granbury January 27. Granbury is favored in both sexes to win the district. Valley Mills edged Mosheim 51-48 to take the district lead in 28-B in a heated contest.

Joseph Mixon aged 55 of Wichita Falls died January 17 after a week in illness. Funeral services were held January 18 in Wichita Falls and graveside rites conducted January 19 in Clifton Cemetery. Survived by wife and son Joseph Jr in Wichita Falls, mother Emma Mixon, brother Francis, sisters Ruby and Carrie, and nephew Francis Cartledge. Pallbearers named. A later obituary will appear. Also Baylor University Choir to perform at Fortersville church on February 23 during tour.

Clifton city council approved a weekly residential garbage collection starting next week with a north of West 5th Street and west of North Avenue G area on Monday, and other zone-specific days. A merchants fee was set at 2 dollars for large businesses and 1 dollar for small firms monthly, with extra charges 1 dollar per additional location.

Emil H Enger Sr aged 70 years 11 months 11 days of Cranfills Gap died about 10:00 PM Monday January 16 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home where he had resided since September 3. Funeral services were held January 18 at 2 PM at the Sunset Home and 3 PM at the St Olaf Lutheran Church Cranfills Gap with Rev Einar Jorgenson officiating. Interment was in the St Olaf Rock Church Cemetery between Clifton and Cranfills Gap. The Record plans a full obituary next week.

Stolen Car Found Abandoned In Park
A stolen car abandoned for a week or more in City Park at Clifton was returned to the owner last week. Dwight Olson reported the vehicle to city policeman Walter Golden while delivering papers. Police radio alerted that the car was stolen December 30 from a Mexican family near Oglesby, with several boys missing from Gatesville Training School the same night.
