The event opened in the morning with a welcome by Mayor Handley who praised modern farming and the new advance Rumely demonstrations. Attendees saw a 10 ft combine, the latest tractor, lectures on power farming, and about 15 000 feet of moving pictures showing machinery in field use. A rodeo performance entertained and emphasized oil and lubrication for longevity.

The ceremony took place Thursday at 4 o clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Carlson with Rev. J A Arnes presiding. Miss Olene Carlson became Miss Olene Carlson to Ray Piner of Ozona Texas in a ring ceremony. The reception followed with punch and a three tier wedding cake. Afterward the couple left for North Texas and will reside in Ozona after February 1. Olene is a graduate nurse from Scott and White Hospital Temple Texas. Ray Piner is a respected Ozona citizen.

Mid term examinations close the first half of the year and two thirds of a pupil's general average come from regular period grades. Teacher changes include Miss Juanita Compton to high school history and Miss Smith and Mrs. Morrison reassigned. The high school basketball team beat Valley Mills 21 to 4 and will play Meridian next Friday. The high school band performed at Meridian, aiding plans to form a similar band there. P T A met with plans for a Feb 13 program and to boost membership.
Mrs C Lequarn born Nora Elizabeth Hibbs on March 26 1865 died January 9 1929 at age 64 after years of illness. She first married J C Freeman in 1886 and had three sons. later wed Professor C Lequarn in 1913 at Amarillo Texas. The couple lived in Hamilton Brownwood Cranfills Gap and are buried in Cranfills Gap Cemetery, with Rev W T Boulware conducting the service.
Our mill is in first class shape for grinding all kinds of feed with late improvements by Stewart and Vickers.
In Meridian court proceedings a road building committee was appointed for Road District No 10 and another for No 9, with listed members. Available funds for No 10 were apportioned. Officials bonds approved and tax assessor Lumpkin Gandy advanced to collect. Numerous court-ordered payments to local firms and individuals followed. Marriage licenses issued. Local notes report illness, visits, and social moves among Meridian residents.
Immanuel Lutheran Church announces Sunday School and Bible Class at 9:30 a. m. followed by Divine service with Holy Communion in German at 10:30 a. m. Saturday includes all Sunday School classes for instruction. G. A. Obenhaus, Pastor.
Ite Farmers Gin Co reports the unloading of a car of Genuine Deep Shaft Oklahoma Mc Alester Coal claiming it is the best coal available in Oklahoma.
A Clifton based farming instruction day on land terracing was held with County Agent Snell organizing sessions in Clifton City Park and the Auditorium. Speakers J M Martin, Snyder, Bentley and A K Short urged terracing to prevent soil washout and restore fertility, followed by on farm terracing demonstration at T A Thompson’s farm.
The SC Evangel Lutheran Church lists Sunday School at 10, morning service at 11, and night service at 7 15. Choir meets Friday at Mrs. Anna Odegaard home. Confirmation class 9 30 Saturday morning. Junior class meets Saturday at 2. Pastor O T Roe. The Record and Dallas News $2 50.
In July 1928 residents petitioned to alter rural routes 1 and 2 to cover White Ranch and nearby areas between Clifton and Terrell. Maps supported changes, hearings followed, and Senator-elect Connolly intervened. Effective February 16, 1929 boxes must be placed on the right side along the routes. Postmaster Fred W. Nelson notes available information at Clifton post office.
