Nelson House Burns in Clifton on Christmas Night 2009
Historic Clifton home built in 1905 by the Nelsons was destroyed by fire on December 25 2009. The 104 year old residence at 1514 West 5th Street changed hands multiple times and hosted social events and dances on its broad verandas before becoming a bed and breakfast named The Courtney House later renamed by owners in Dallas and Clifton.

Brookshire's in Clifton partnered with the Spirit of Christmas Food Drive to aid the local food bank during the holidays. Manager Jason Bearden said the store assembled and sold food bags, collected 1,000 dollars in food value, donated 1,200 dollars via a gift card for the food bank, and gave 100 coupons for a free baking hen. He thanked Clifton citizens, Bosque County volunteers, and the food bank staff for spreading Christmas spirit.
