The Junior Class of Chieffon High staged Miss Blow Bowne at City Hall on February 22 before a large unappreciative audience. The piece showcased school effort and dramatic skill, with the play drawing attention to student talent and school spirit as organizers thanked guests in a closing note.
Washington on February 21 the Works Progress Administration notified Texas officials that President Roosevelt approved a $200,000 emergency flood relief allotment for Texas. Valley Mills city marshal and tax official died at his residence after a two week illness. Funeral services will be from the Methodist Church at 6 or 7 p.m. Monday with Rev. A B Tugf officiating, burial in Valley Mills cemetery. Survived by his widow, three sons and three daughters.
Mrs Nona Grow of Morgan attended the Beta Chapter meeting at Clifton City Hall on February 19 for routine business. Chapter president Ora Lee Bettin presided and read a letter from state president Wulah Lee Cartir of Fort Worth. Several business items were discussed and voted on. A social event followed with singing led by Mew Hn ali Ho and an address by Anita Phinngy of Kopper on Equal Wigtte for Women Testers.
Lane Chapel community notes Lewin Har, longtime Gallatin‑Area merchant and Sunday School supervisor, died early Friday at Aishowell Gates. Funeral services were led by Rev. Trey and the Valley Street Methodist Deaconess. he is survived by his wife, two sons, and many relatives. A long list of local friends and church members attended. Interment details and Friday vigil updates mentioned. several local families extend sympathy and support to the Har family.
The Gate closes on this year's basketball run as NTAC faced Tooredag night at Milsboro Junior College. NTA and local high schools competed in a season finale featuring close play and notable performances. The Cats defeated the Hillaboro Indians by a margin that underscored their strong finish.
Mrs Canute Canuteson received a bridal shower on Monday afternoon February 4 at the home of Mrs Adolah Schule. Co hosts included Mrs C Baker and Mr P O Dab. Grassview Feb 21 Three victims died as a special passenger train struck a car at a railroad crossing. Leonard Reed 45 and J. S. Jones 62 were killed instantly, Henry Delaney 50 died later in Fort Worth after being rushed there. Investigators tentatively blamed the accident on a cardboard windbreak used as a makeshift shield for a broken car window.
The Clifton College Chorus will sing Roy T Nolte s Victorious King during Lent. Mrs Anna Odegaard directs about forty voices. The at home concert will be at Clifton College auditorium Palm Sunday evening April 10 1938. Friends from Clifton may contact the college for arrangements to sing locally.
Washington February 18 Secretary Wallace Briday announced farmers will vote on a crop control plan under the normal granary law. The outcome will decide if marketing quotas apply to two commodities. Polls will be open throughout the region for the votes.
R L Fox aged 69 editor and publisher of the Moody Courier died Friday afternoon in a local hospital after a brief illness. A Moody resident for 28 years he was a member of the Texas Prom Amnoela ion and the Knights of Pythian. Funeral services will be held Saturday at Moody. Survived by daughter Porine Fox and five sisters and five brothers.
County meet rules outline dates for playground ball and regular meets at Meridian and Clifton. Entries due ten days before the meet. parade rules require school representatives and orderly judging. Exhibits divisions include literary and Home Economics. new nickel design contest announced with $1,000 prize and Jefferson Monticello motif.
