Lloyd Orbeck Killed in Waco Airport Wreck

Lloyd Orbeck 46 a longtime Clifton businessman died in a car crash near the Waco Municipal Airport shortly after 12 39 AM Saturday February 19 He was a passenger in a late model car driven by Bobby Weatherford 27 of Maypearl Weatherford survived with minor injuries The North Lakeshore Drive car skid marks exceeded 400 feet and rescue crews freed the men after 15 minutes Funeral services were held Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church Clifton with pallbearers from American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts A flag was presented to Orbeck’s family at Clifton Cemetery in graveside rites An obituary note refers readers to Lloyd Orbeck Back Page

Clifton Man Collects Barbed Wire As Hobby

Cecil P. Coston of Clifton Central Division manager for the Community Public Service Company has pursued barbed wire collecting for about a year. His display in the Farmers State Bank lobby showcases wires from Bosque Hamilton Coryel and Hill Counties with strands from Kansas West Texas and Falls County. He attributes his interest to fencing work near Clifton and Crawfish Gap and to reading The Wire that Fenced the West and Barbed Wire in McLennan County.

Snow prompts Clifton schools to dismiss Wednesday

Clifton's weather man reported about four inches of snow fell Tuesday causing icy roads and below freezing conditions. Superintendent Kent Appleby said sunshine on Wednesday should allow classes to resume Thursday morning.

Bosque County Democratic Executive Committee met in Meridian District Courtroom on February 14 to set and accept contributions toward the county quota. Chairman Albert Hastings reported 15 of 17 members present and that all candidates filed paid their assessments before the February 19, 1966 deadline. CHS Stage Band plans to leave Wednesday around 4 00 PM for the 13th Brownwood Stage Band Festival.
