Three Louisiana Men Arrested After Knife Fight
Three Mora Louisiana men Jerry Tyler 21 Johnny Tyler 15 and their cousin were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a knife fight in Clifton. Investigators linked the incident to a stolen pickup found abandoned in Huntsville Texas. The elder Tyler has a lengthy criminal record and jail breaks. They were held in Bosque County Jail awaiting action.

Easter Seal Appeal Opens in Bosque County Feb 23
The 170 Easter Seal Appeal will begin in Bosque County on February 23 with Helen C. Aars as Easter Seal Representative. He notes letters start arriving about March 1 and outlines services funded by the Society for Crippled Children and Adults of Texas. Last year 20,878 handicapped people were helped as costs rise. Funds support renters statewide and provide walkers, wheelchairs, and related services to those in need. Since 1929 Texans have supported these efforts and are urged to increase services in the coming year.

Dangerous aerosol fire extinguishers tested by Clifton fire unit
After two housewives reported fires with aerosol extinguishers, Clifton Volunteer Fire Department tested two brands and found them dangerous. Fire Chief George Harris urged demonstrations and label reading before use and called for merchant suspensions pending state fire inspector review. One can warned that use in enclosed spaces may be fatal.

As of press time at noon Wednesday two candidates had filed for Clifton City Council seats to be filled in the April 4 municipal election. Councilman Jim B. Smith seeks reelection. Rudy Johnson, manager at Community Public Service power company Clifton office, also filed. Pierson and Dyer plan to retire after two terms. Deadline to file is Wednesday March 4.

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Chester Hulme 66 killed when his pickup collided with Santa Fe freight No. 224 at the 5th Street crossing. Witnesses saw Hulme look back before impact. Train traveled about 40 mph. damage included the blue 1962 Ford Falcon.

Douglas Railsback filed his candidacy for reelection to the Clifton School Board Tuesday after a special meeting. He was the only candidate to file by press time Wednesday. Helms may decide to run, with terms expiring in April. The meeting heard a presentation by Curtis Adrian of First Southwest Company, the board's second fiscal agent.

Clifton NG Paratroopers Jump In Joint Airborne Exercise
Clifton Texas National Guard units led by the 71st Abn Sep and 1st Bn Abn 143rd Inf joined crews from Waco Whitney Stephenville Hillsboro Cleburne Corsicana Mexia and Kerens for an airborne exercise at North Fort Hood on February 7. About 300 parachutists jumped from a US Air Force Reserve C 119 aircraft over a rapid drop zone and then conducted a night tactical seizure drill. Commanding officers include Brigadier General Thomas D Blackwell and Major William W Green with unit leaders listed from Waco Stephenville Corsicana and surrounding communities.
