Only 29 Bosque County residents had registered during the extended February period as of Tuesday, with the county tax assessor predicting few more will sign up. Overall registrations total about 5,264, far below 1970's 5,344. The paper notes the off year for elections and the new allowance for 18 to 20 year olds to register.

30 Athletes to Try for Cub Varsity Track Team
Thirty CHS athletes signed to try for the Cub Varsity Track Team for the 197 edition. The group includes 11 returning lettermen and several promising newcomers. Coach Aubrey Roberts notes the team debuts in Round Rock on March 6 with a TV appearance scheduled Feb. 27 on Cub King's Channel 10 sports show.

Burton Hoff seeks a council seat and former mayor Charles Isenhower runs for mayor. Mayor O E Pierson will not seek a third term.
