Clifton Chief of Police Eldon J. Forbess resigns citing health reasons after serving since April 1966. Surgery in December for a back injury followed by nerve damage worsened by long patrol-car sitting. City seeks applications for a new police chief as Mayor Isenhower was unavailable for comment.
Leslie B. Vance lists March of Dimes chairmen for Bosque County towns including Clifton Crawfills Gap Meridian Walnut Springs Valley Mills Iredell Kopperl Mosheim and more with co chairmen named. Clifton and Crawfills Gap plan Mothers March events and students are solicited for donations to fund polio arthritis and birth defect research and prevention.
The First Annual Meridian Jaycee sponsored Invitational Outsiders Basketball Tourna ment begins Friday with Clifton and Blum leading off at 5 30 p m. Other opening games include Koppers vs Morgan 6 45 p m Whitney vs Hamilton 8 p m and Hico vs Meridian 9 15 p m. Consolation semis Friday 8 and 9 15 p m and finals Saturday 7 30 p m with the title game at 8 45 p m.
The Farmers State Bank in Clifton will be closed Wednesday February 22 in observance of Washingtons Birthday. All customers are asked to plan transactions accordingly due to the holiday.

Glen Judah directs the Clifton Band. tickets include admission to the concert. Committees organized for staging, hospitality, kitchen, dining, publicity, and clean up.
Clifton residents can borrow wheelchairs hospital beds and crutches from VFW Post 8553. Jodie Amundson handles details and notes the post has only one chair available as of Tuesday. No charge is made but borrowers must return items when no longer needed.
Gap Lionettes face Tolar at Glen Rose in Bi-District playoff action Tuesday night February 28. Coach Buddy Abels leads district champions in a must-win district tilt.
Members of Mrs. E. B. Herris' 45 member CHS speech class performed at the Clifton Lions Club luncheon at City Hall. Dale Orbeck and Kenneth Holder gave a "duet acting" skit from A Thousand Clowns. Harvey Zimmerman criticized TV commercials while Craig White urged U S bombing to end the war. The Lions approved raising the annual CHS scholarship from 25 to 100 dollars.
County Judge E W McGee and Bosque County commissioners plan to attend the Texas County Judges and Commissioners Conference at A&M College on Thursday and Friday. Attending commissioners are Fletcher Cooper Pet 1 Earl Page Pet 2 T A Blassingame Pet 3 and Curtis Bakke Pet 4.
Clifton and Glen Rose finish 6-4 in District 13 A with a tie for third after Clifton’s Jim Bird scores 25 and Glen Rose’s John Shackelford nets 21 in a 61-53 Clifton victory. Clifton A Girls lose 47-34. B-team Boys 42-34. junior high teams near final games.

W T Thompson announced for city council. mayor Charles Isenhower seeks reelection and O E Pierson filed for mayor. Incumbents Gerald Rice and John Outlaw have not announced. Prospective candidates have 16 days left to file.
