Railroad surveyors passed through our town last Friday, surveying between C McKinney homestead and the Methodist parsonage. Local social notes include visits from Miss Pearl Martin and friends, theater trips to Waco, and neighborly gatherings with the Weeks and Weeks families. News mentions Dell school fundraising, preaching services, new residents, and a line about Hill County Bank appointing a new assistant cashier.
A long exposure portrait of F M Kell born in Missouri and his trek to Texas before the Civil War. He recounts battles with Kiowa Indians in Bosque County, driving cattle to St Louis, and a near river crossing with Captain Daggett. Kell’s family helped settle Bosque-Houston regions, trading salt, tobacco and shoes, with Kell later linking to Fort Worth through his son Frank Kell the railroad builder.
Fragmented OCR text describes a for sale notice with scattered names and terms. It hints at a Kell related sale, a young person, a governor or official, and a narrow escape. The legible parts are incomplete and jumbled, offering no clear event date or location.
