How To Prune Plants Damaged By Freeze
Bosque County plants damaged by hard freezes should not be pruned too soon. Wait weeks to assess dead wood then prune to live wood, scratch cambium to check damage, and cut out cracked bark. Use disinfectant between cuts, shellac large cuts, and recoat wounds yearly. Water plants after pipes thaw to reduce further damage.
