Forsters’ American Dream Amid War Time Sacrifices
Helene and Johnny Forster, an immigrant couple from Draaden in Saxony, recount their 1920s America journey. They built a life in New York, saved diligently, supported sons who joined the Navy, and endured wartime sacrifices while praising freedom and the American system. They describe leaving two babies with $12 and later finding work, schooling, and a home, culminating in a hopeful testimonial to America.
