Gighty men began work Friday on the construction of a landing field about ten miles east of Clifton under the CWA program. Forty hours weekly, men from Cranfill Gap, Norse and Clifton, led by foreman Hendrick Nelson, have cleared trees, surveyed runways, and planned grading with a $6,000 budget split between labor and materials. A Austin trip by Tom Parks and others helped resolve staffing questions. Local residents Will Johnson and daughter Willie Mae Brownwood were born last Wednesday, noted in the courthouse record.
