Old Age Checks Will Be Sent Out Shortly

Austin February 2 old age pension checks will mail around the tenth of the month announced by the old age assistance commission. Checks will go out in batches of about 29 000 with no waiting for federal money. Acting Director Orville Carpenter said 113 000 and TEAMS have received assistance since the state pension law took effect February 14 1896. The forecast a year ago was 30 000 recipients now. Carpenter cited a rise in Texas due to the Thorn Texas law.

Mrs Alpha Phinney Dies at Kappers Home

Mrs Alpha Phinney, aged about seventy, died at the Kappers home after illness. The widow of LG Phinomy, she resided in the local community for many years and the death was recorded as medically attributed after a period of decline. Funeral arrangements are pending in the immediate vicinity.
