City Hall Slogan Contest Reveals Local Pride at CLIFTEX Theatre
Mayor Volcansek and Charlie Hodges hosted a town hall at CLIFTEX Theatre on Monday December 14 to discuss campaign promises ongoing city work on streets and culverts and the new Clifton logo. Hodges noted local artists designed logos and Cindy Wennen’s design was approved. The slogan contest produced winners with adult votes split between Home town Central Texas and A Future as Rich as its Heritage while students favored Home town Central Texas.

Bosque County Honors WW II Veterans for December Event
The Bosque Collection hosted a program honoring WWII veterans on Friday December 11. Walt Lewis led the pledge and introduction, guests spoke on service branches and duties, and poems were read by Sherrod Fielden while County Judge Cole Ward read a tribute. Veterans Boswell Curre Duncan and others shared recollections of Pearl Harbor and the Great Depression, with nurse Nadine Heid describing duties and David Keller speaking.

EMS Chief Elected To HOTRAC Board In Waco Meeting
Meldeian-Langa Catena administrator of North Bosque EMS was elected to HOTRAC board in a December 10 general assembly in Waco. She will serve a two year term in the Rural EMS category. HOTRAC covers Bosque Falls Hill Limestone and McLennan counties and coordinates trauma care education and prevention efforts. Catena also serves on the Pre Hospital Care Committee.

CVFD Trains On Actual Car Fire
Clifton Volunteer Fire Department members conducted an actual vehicle fire drill on a hill by the river near the Mermaids pool property. They staged the scene, rolled the trucks, controlled the car and brush blaze, endured a minor slip, and trained a new member in entering a fire scene with air packs and bunker gear ready for house fires.

CISD Board Action on Bonds and Audit Report
Clifton CISD board accepted an unqualified annual financial audit presented by Julia Smith of Stephenville. The meeting approved minutes and bills, budget amendments, a fund balance review, and a 1997 Series Bonds refunding package. Hubler Learns Snakes Don’t Hide In Winter
