Santa Fe Year-End Review Details 1963 Expansion Plan
Ernest S. Marsh, president of the Santa Fe Railway, announces a 1963 capital program of 90 million dollars, including 58 diesel locomotives, about 3 000 freight cars, 24 bi level passenger cars, 25 semi lightweight baggage cars, and six RPO cars. The plan also calls for 245 miles of track replacement, microwave link from Amarillo to Winslow, and expanded repair facilities. Freight revenues are expected to rise modestly and 1962 net income benefited from tax rules and depreciation provisions.

Bosque County Sees Gains From Screwworm Eradication Program
Bosque County farmers benefit from the Southwest Screwworm Eradication Program though the county lies outside the immediate release area. County agent Floyd Key says sterile flies disperse across 80 000 square miles in Texas and New Mexico, reducing local infestations via the southern overwintering zone. He notes winter temperatures help suppress northern spread and that efforts in southern Texas and southwestern New Mexico are crucial to Bosque County’s gains.
