Bosque County 4-H Club held its annual Awards Night at Meridian School on Monday November 26 recognizing 255 4-H members from 14 clubs. Lois Nell Lammert and Danny Markman won the Gold Star Girl and Boy honors. certificates and medals were awarded to many participants with remarks by George H. Brooks and John E. Wakefield.

Clifton Lions Club hosted Lion Deputy Governor Doug Bertling of Waco who shared greetings from Heart Of Texas Club and spoke on the Texas Lions Club Crippled Children’s Camp at Kerrville. He showed a film illustrating the camp’s growth since 1953 and noted Clifton’s linkage through a local camper each of the last two years. Guests included Lion Gene Swartz, George E. Community Christmas Tree Dedication in Clifton December 17
Clifton plans a 38 foot community Christmas tree dedication on Monday December 17 at 7:00 p.m. The event opens a week of nightly programs with the mayor A. D. Spurgeon and Lions Club president J. L. Standefer Jr. on hand. Churches and schools supply the nightly program lineup. Prizes for best home decorations include 7.50 for first and 5.00 for second. A plaque honors best business display. Santa arrangements are led by a Clifton committee coordinating tree, decor, and events.

Miss Joy Trotter of Orange visited Clifton with her parents during Thanksgiving. Also in Clifton for the holiday were Hugh Trotter Jr a Baylor student. Kathleen Kruse and family joined Mr and Mrs Kruse and daughter Janis from West to attend the State Teachers Convention in Houston. They visited relatives and friends including the Arnold Kruse Ernest Schwartz families. The Painters and Buckner's Orphans Home near Dallas hosted visits by Mr and Mrs Clarence Painter and others from Clifton.
