The twelfth annual Flower Carnival in Mixon Hall ended after three days and nights with strong attendance and high gross proceeds. The Civic Improvement Society coordinated flower displays needlework and two turkey dinners while planning to use net proceeds for local worthy causes. Mayor Oscar J. Rea opened the program and Prof. Pharr delivered an address. faculty and students of Clifton participated in a lively program.

Former Texas state senator Hugh Harris died after his car collided with an interurban on a crossing west of Temple. He passed away in a Temple hospital hours later. Harris, about 55, had served in the Senate since 1914 and previously as Bell County Clerk. He left politics to return to business and was a fruit and nursery grower. His wife and two children survive.

Mr and Mrs Tom McSpadden were bitten by their own dog which was found to have rabies after a head was sent to Austin for examination. They sought treatment at the Pasteur Institute in Austin and are expected to complete their last session on Thanksgiving day. Clifton relatives report they are recovering well and remain hopeful they are now safe from further danger. The couple have deep roots and many friends in the community.

Berlin reports Die Zeit attributes the U S failure to ratify the peace treaty to party politics. The paper argues Republicans oppose the Democratic president and seek to discredit him before elections, despite the treaty’s terms.

Attorney General C. M. Cureton said he will leave for Washington Saturday to resist Oklahoma moves through the U S Supreme Court to obtain control of the Burk-Senator oil properties in dispute with Texas. The Texas receiver currently holds the property.
Clifton High School crushed Meridian 19 to 0 at Meridian with strong running and two forward passes. Claud Roddy and Oliver Snider scored on passes, Kennard Golden added a conversion, and Otto Schow’s 70 yard interception return sealed the win. Meridian refused to play a rematch after the defeat, citing unsportsmanlike conduct.
