Tickets are moving quickly for the Annual Lutefisk and Turkey dinner hosted by the Gap Lions Booster Club in Crawfills Gap Texas. The event occurs Saturday December 5 1970 from 5 to 9 pm in the school lunchroom. Advance tickets cost 2.00 for adults and 1.00 for children. Two plays will be staged Sunday at 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church as part of the German-Norwegian Christmas Time series. The first play Herod and the Kings features a large cast led by Mike Hoel and Kay Tergerson. The second play What Can I Do is by Nancy Swenson Olson, presented in a surreal style with Narrator Pat Morrow and a cast including Erwin Dahl and Wannie Dahl.
Clifton High School Band and 55 members moved up to Class 2A for the University Interscholastic League march ing contest at Tyson Field in Waco. Directors praised hard work and pride as judges scored the group Div II with only Currton Connally and West earning higher Div I ratings in the region.
Clifton area resident Melvin C Warren showcases 35 oil paintings and bronze sculptures at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City through Jan 31 1971. Most works are loaned from private collectors. Lucille Warren invites locals in the Clifton area to view the exhibit during its roughly two month run.
The Selmer Erickson, Post 322, of the American Legion will hold its Christmas supper Saturday night, December 5, at 7 p.m. Turkey and dressing will be furnished by the Post. Each family should bring a dish to complete the covered dish meal. There will be no gift exchange for adults, but please bring a gift for your children.
Clifton High’s Cubs fought hard against top ranked Iowa Park in Abilene but lost the regional final 28 to 12. After trailing 14 0 in the first quarter Clifton rallied to 12 14 at halftime as Jeff McDonald and Greg Frazier produced key drives. Iowa Park answered after the break with two TDs and held Clifton to 9 rushing yards, 46 passing yards and 3 first downs. A 5 yard penalty negated a potential Cubs scoring play in the third quarter as momentum shifted toward the Hawks.
