The Womack church sausage supper served over 400 attendees on Wednesday at Calvi Smokehouse. Members described the event as a busy family gathering with hearty dishes and community heritage evident in the meal.
Clifton Record changes hands with Mark Henry named publisher succeeding W. Leon Smith. Henry brings years of community paper leadership, with prior roles at The Tyler Daily Press and The Highlander, and joins his wife Karel in moving to Bosque County to guide local news with a growth vision.
Clifton Chamber of Commerce hosts its 17th annual Norwegian Country Christmas Parade on Friday at 6 30 p m downtown Clifton with marching bands lighted floats and unique vehicles. After the parade the public is invited to the Bancue Museum for a Candlelight event and Christmas for all who are young. Bosque Art Center presents Arts of Christmas with a reception and sale opening Friday evening and continuing Saturday. The weekend also features Bosque Museum tours Norwegian heritage tales at Bosque Center and rural homes on the tour with food offerings and carriage rides in downtown.
Orlette Watson, longtime Clifton resident and businessman, died Sunday Nov 29. A Navy veteran, he moved to Clifton in 1946 from Martin after service aboard a battleship. He ran a feed and hatchery business until 1960 and owned Watson TV and Electronics. Watson supported Bosque County civic causes and joined groups such as the American Legion and Clifton Volunteer Fire Department.
Following a FallFest incident Clifton residents are urged to join the Be The Match bone marrow registry. Candi Adcock and Sunset Ministries cosponsor with Scott & White to aid Susan Wehmeyer 38 who battled lymphoma and myelodysplasia. Health guidelines limit donor eligibility.
