On Steele's creek a yearling struck Mrs. W B Allen, injuring her as Mr. Allen, rushing to aid, was then trampled by the animal and a shed support post pulled free, pinning his wife. He notified J Tom Mareen and moved most cattle to safety, leaving two milk cows behind.
In Hillsboro on August 19, Robert H. Devaney aged 0 years died after an apparently unloaded pistol handed by his 10 year old sister discharged. The bullet entered the face near the lower right side of the nose and passed through the brain, causing fatal injuries.
In Cleburne Texas on August 21 A H Hislop delivered a wagon load of tomatoes weighing up to two and a half pounds to the local canning factory. He plans to double his acreage next year as farmers flood the plant with fruit enabling three days of operation per week.
