Dove Season Opens September First State Wardens Tighten Trespass Rules
Dove season runs September 1 to October 30 with a daily bag limit of 10 and a possession limit of 20. Shooting hours are noon to sunset. Do not hunt on public roads city limits or property without permission. Wardens may arrest for trespassing and enforcement will hinge on consent and enclosed land definitions.

Son Of Clifton Lady Killed In Accident
Jerry Gonce of San Angelo, son of Mrs Lena Gonce of Clifton, was killed in an auto crash near Brownwood on U.S. 67 Saturday night. His wife was injured and their two year old son had a broken leg. two other children were unhurt. Mrs Gonce was driving and reportedly fell asleep before the crash. Mr Gonce was born in Bosque County on June 28, 1932. He is survived by his wife, three children, his mother, five sisters including Linda Joyce Gonce of Clifton, and four brothers including Franklin Gonce Jr of Clifton. Cecil M Sharp, Route 4, Gatesville, is a medical patient at the local hospital following admission Tuesday.

Black Panther Seen West Of Clifton
A large black panther was seen by the Victor Conrad family chasing a deer about 6:00 P.M. Tuesday near Clifton. The panther and deer ran 300 to 400 yards toward the Henriek Pederson farm before disappearing in brush west of Clifton. Earlier reports mention others seeing signs or tracks suggesting a panther in the area along Neils Creek.

James Montgomery former minister of the Church of Christ in Clifton will take a similar post at the Church of Christ in Center East Texas. He and his wife and four children plan to move Monday August 26 after ice cream social and shower honors. He will preach his final Clifton sermon Sunday August 25. White mountain rock crushes toward Clifton highway rebuild
The rock crusher on the L. C Schumacher farm north of Clifton near Highway 6 creates a snow like mound as about half of the needed rock for the Clifton Meridian highway upgrade is processed. Fred Hall and Sons own the crusher valued around half a million dollars. Material estimates total 245000 tons with water needs of 200000 to 400000 gallons daily to begin base work. Low bid for the project stands at 593827.10 from Fred Hall & Sons and Young Brothers Inc with John Hood Garner of Belton as sub contractor.
