Marine Corporal John O Baxter son of Mr and Mrs John L Baxter and husband of Barbara J Benson of Meridian will arrive at Long Beach California August 22 aboard the heavy cruiser USS Rochester which has completed a six and a half month training cruise in Far Eastern waters The Rochester flagship of the 7th Fleet visited Formosa the Philippines Japan Okinawa and Hong Kong All men aboard the Rochester during this tour were awarded the China Service Medal for duty in the Formosa area.
