Two men charged in burglary linked to Gene Bush thefts
County lawmen jailed two men on felony burglary charges connected to a theft at Gene Bush’s Iredell residence on August 10. Authorities say 30 guns including rifles and pistols plus two bedspreads and a homemade quilt were taken. 14 rifles and the remaining items recovered. Bonds set at 20 000 each, with two further arrests possible and 16 guns still missing.

Five Arrested on Drug Charges at Smith Bend Trailer
Five people were arrested Saturday afternoon at a Smith Bend trailer on felony marijuana possession charges. Officers raid found 30 pounds of marijuana valued at about six thousand dollars. Those charged are Larry Jeff Culp Clifton Charles Eddie Marrs G W Bradburry Deanie Lee Almquist and Mary Webb Culp with bonds set at twenty thousand each. The three men remain in Meridian County Jail while the two women were moved to McLennan County jail in Waco for housing.

A Sunday early morning blaze gutted a residence on North Avenue A with four Clifton Volunteer Fire Department trucks and a van responding for two hours. Clifton man fined for public intoxication after arrest
A man arrested by Clifton police at 12 25 a m Friday at State Highway 6 and Farm Market Road 219 was jailed then appeared before Judge W R Lively. He was fined on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication before release.
