The Busy Bee Home Club organized an all day picnic at Walden Springs Park on Wednesday August. Numerous clubs from the region displayed crafts, gardening, paintings, and novelties. A noon luncheon served 115 people followed by music and readings. Mr. A L Ulrich of A M College spoke on farm safety, highlighting common farm accidents and prevention.
A Clifton man who had lived with his son Bill and family for many years died at the home on Fifth Street. The family history includes a move to Fannin County near Boney Grove after starting life there.
Jacob Henry Hanson, age 78, died at his home on Monday morning August 14. Born in Clifton he was raised in the Lutheran faith and married Clarabetta Mahoney in 1942. Survivors include his wife, Clarabetta, and two children, with services set for the Clifton Home Chapel on August 16 at 1:00.
The Clifton Midgets defeated Meridian to win the final as pitcher P J Wallace held Meridian hitless through three innings. Clifton rallied with a triple by Dobby Lane and a home run by Dy, seizing the game 5 to 1 in the late innings. The crowd enjoyed the afternoon despite frayed nerves as Clifton clinched the title.
The North Port unit of the EET Infantry Regiment 26th Division moves to camp at Hoad ear Aslesville on Wednesday morning. Cpl Claude K. and Leroy Leary, along with the Amaber couple, transfer to the advance ride nent. This marks the second Rammer amp since the last war, with enlistees from the guard preparing for training.
Halder Duncans and family presented Clifton Public Schools with books valued over 100 dollars. Superintendent Kent Appleby accepted the donation, with some volumes allocated to the elementary department and others for the high school. The gift honors former Clifton resident Marion Duncans, graduate of the Clifton Public Schools.

The Clifton Independent School District launches a teen canteen sponsored by the Lions Club Civic Committee. It will operate in the Cy Halle dining room on Monday Tuesday Thursday and Saturday evenings from 7 to 11, starting this Friday. Eligibility is ages 14 to 18 in the Clifton district, with membership cards issued Friday night.
The election to equalize school taxes in the Merrivale district and Valley Mille district passed by a wide margin in the Chiton vale portion with 80 to 1 and 23 to 2 results respectively. The consolidation was required by law though tax rates cannot be placed on the people without their consent.
Charles Wall will speak at the Hour Rally at Baptist Church of Waco on August 18 at 8 PM.
