Four men robbed the Mitchell store in Iredell early July 30. They abducted nightwatchman Dawson and 17 year old Penton, drove them to a distant location, bound them with handkerchiefs, and took a 800 rifle, an automatic shotgun, sacks of ammunition, and worn clothing. Authorities speculate a thwarted plan at nearby Pylant hardware. Dawson had been abducted in a prior robbery on June 14.

Plano Woman's Mother Dies After Stroke
The Angel, aged seventy three, died at her daughter Ruth Salyers' home in Plano after brief illness. She suffered a paralytic stroke Sunday while in serious condition. Ruth Salyers and other relatives were notified as events progressed. Services were held in Plano on Wednesday and burial followed there, the family home for many years. Clifton friends extend sincere sympathy.

Concordia League Encampment Closes After Five Days
