Lake Whitney fishing sees mixed catches amid threatening weather
Weekend anglers faced rough conditions on Lake Whitney with fishers reporting many remained ashore. Those who stayed landed sandies and a few crap pie and blacks. Trotliners hauled yellowcats from 16 to 43 pounds and a rod and reel fisher released a 34 pound yellow cat. Sandies favored artificial baits with hauls of 100 to 300 pounds after two to three days. A few fish from 2.5 to 4 pounds were taken on lures. Lake level sits at 514.14 feet, about six feet low.
