Native bunch grasses start growth this season notes grazing rules

Native grasses such as little bluestem Indian grass and side oats grama begin growth now and grow with rainfall. Heavy grazing slows growth and seed production and may kill plants. Proper use means controlled grazing and periodic checks to avoid overgrazing while maintaining litter to improve soil water and cooling. Waterways and ponds are staked and checked by local landowners.
