W M S Social Hosts April Missionary Meeting

Mrs F K Bradstreet and daughter Mrs Hector Hill co hosted the Methodist Church Missionary Society social on Monday afternoon April 18. The event featured flower decorations, songs, scripture, and a Lord's Prayer. Games included a Bible spelling match, followed by a salad plate for a large attendance and visiting ladies Colwick Murphree Viek.

Antoinette Westgaard Weds Douglas Hill in Clifton Church Parlor

Miss Antoinette Westgaard and Mr. Douglas Oliver Hill were married April 16 in the First Presbyterian Church parlor with Rev. Andrew Byers officiating. Attendants were Miss Maidee Scow and Bill Robertson. The couple will reside at the John A. Olson home after a brief wedding trip, amid well wishers from their circle.

Death of Wade Grimland a Sonora native with Texas and GM career

Relatives in Sonora mourn Wade Grimland who died in Houston on April 6 from pneumonia after influenza. A UT graduate of 1923, he worked in Tampico, then rose to head auditor and later assistant general manager for GM in Dallas and Houston before a New York posting. He was to wed Ollie Bell of Houston. Funeral April 9 drew many friends. survivors include parents two sisters four brothers and a grandmother.

Local Clifton College program well rendered Thursday night

Pupils of Clifton College presented a program Thursday night and organizers hope for another. Mr. and Mrs. O E Pierson of Wortham visited Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Walter Freeman hosted a Sunday School moonlight picnic with good attendance and plenty to eat. A miscellaneous shower for Mrs. A B Poston occurred at the high school auditorium last Thursday with many useful gifts. Mrs. J C Howard and Miss Blanche Rose visited Tuesday. Funeral attendance from here at Mrs Mollie J Howard's funeral in Valley Mills included relatives of this place. Mrs. Alfred McFadden of Liberty visited L C Barton and family Sunday. Evelyn Vickrey is absent from school this week due to measles.

Ole Pederson Dies Sunday in Clifton, 1932

Ole Pederson born October 8 1874 died Sunday morning April 17 1932. He ran a small oil and gasoline station by the O E Schow lumber yard for five years and earlier worked with Schow Brothers in Clifton for over twenty five years. He was never married and leaves three brothers and four nieces. Funeral services were conducted at the Hoff residence by Rev O T Roe and he was buried in the Norse cemetery.

St Olaf Lutheran Church holds a Rock Church service in Norwegian next Sunday April 24 at 11. Clifton and Norse join to dedicate a monument erected 65 years ago near the Ringness home. Brick Church serves Sunday night at 7 30 with Rev Allen Nelson conducting a service aimed at graduates. Sunday School and Bible Class are every Sunday at 9 30, Confirmants meet Saturday at 9 30.

At Tuesday's Lions Club luncheon the road committee reported progress on the Harmony highway through Spring Creek. The Fair Committee prepared for the Central Texas Fair this Fall while other committees were assigned tasks and will report at the next gathering.
