A fragmented notice reflects on the "fast young man" as a bygone social type. It notes his waning numbers and influence amid changing industrial conditions, claiming doors close to him while newer, spirited youths are valued. The passage hints at a moral shift and the need for courageous, lively youth over a sober, long-faced stereotype.
Fragmentary OCR shows notes on a town plot sale, a mayoral race in McAlester, exodus to Canada, a ninety four birthday, farm movements, pest warnings, construction plans, and a city council election with April 24 ballot. Names include Pete Hanraty, McAlester, Alberta settlers, and J M Carlton.
Brown County man Warren Watrna an elderly Confederate veteran died of cancer in the forehead. He claimed the tumor bore a exact likeness to a camp bully who struck him during the war, and the scarred growth gradually deepened revealing a human head. Photos of the remarkable cancer image were taken in Gatesville and discussed by local editors. The piece also notes a bond issue in Liberty County and mentions local names and odd medical anecdotes from the era.
A garbled dispatch from Over Texas News notes political contests in Dallas Wichita and other cities with majorities shifting in several races. It mentions nominations for mayor and commissioner, railroad leadership changes, and lawsuits tied to state transportation entities. The report ties in labor unrest and a broad sweep of national political activity, including a governor race and election tallies across multiple states.
Notice of a meeting of Clifton State Bank directors on January 5 in Utton Texas. The assets were transferred to Farmers Gonronty State Bank of Clifton Texas and depositors and other obligations will be paid by Barmera Gonranty Staty Manly of Chitton Texas. The readable text then devolves into garbled leftovers with no further clear facts.
