Cattle Raisers' Convention Draws Large Attendance
Thirteen hundred cattlemen and families attended the 96th TSCRA convention in San Antonio March 19 21 breaking attendance records. President William C Donnell said turnout was outstanding with many young faces and optimism for spring. Officers were reelected. Speakers included Mrs Anne Armstrong and Governor Dolph Briscoe who received ovations. Cattlemen backed Briscoe on tax and crime stance and backed Mrs Armstrongs supermarket buying proposal. They urged TAMU to hire a dean of veterinary medicine focused on large animal practice and research. Secretary-general manager Don C King reported 1800 new members and livestock losses valued at 800000 for the year. The 1974 convention will be in Dallas with 1975 in Austin.

Oddity of Tinker to Evers to Chance double plays
Baseball lore praises the Tinker to Evers to Chance trio, yet they produced very few double plays. Adams’s 1908 poem notes eight in 1907, seven in 1906, and zero in 1906 08 World Series games. The record for never striking out in 100 plus games is never reached, with Joe Sewell closest in 1925 at four strikeouts in 155 games.
