The Clifton Record dated Friday April 19 1912 notes it is better to laugh too much than be an old grouch who fears breaking his face if he smiles. The paper is entered at the Clifton Texas post office as second class matter and costs one dollar per year.
Residents of Whitney and Hillsboro prefer an interurban railway over a steam line, arguing it would be far more convenient for the general public and especially beneficial to farmers along the route as a smart investment for Hill County.
The West Times reports Cone Johnson has no intention of withdrawing from the senatorial race. Opponents spread rumors of retirement, but the paper attributes the claim to Buncomb.
Clifton has advanced rapidly, buying the town water system in 1905 for 10000 dollars with bonds issued for sale. Water rents received for the year ending April 1 totaled 8799.65, and the city holds an option to take up the system.
On Oct 5 1915 city water bonds need sinking fund $5675.67 in treasury. Officials expect funds to cover full amount then. Only city bonds noted this year with over $5000 spent on street work and 10 451 loads of gravel laid. Progress praised by Whitney Mes sender.
