Bosque County rounds up first Junior College Boxing Tournament at Clifton High School Gym Friday and Saturday. Matches begin at 7:80 p.m. featuring teams from Texas junior colleges. Local fans expect a strong showing and competitive bouts.
City secretary W C Hurst announced the new city dump is in operation just west of the city with entrance atop the hill a mile past Clifton. The road to the dump has been gravelled for access and a city dump truck is equipped to haul garbage. Regional Golden Glove finals noted with seven champions expected from Decatur Baptist College Cisco Weatherford Clifton. College participants listed include Cisco College Weatherford Jr College and others with multiple weight class entrants. Reserved seating and tickets available at the door for both sites.
Clifton Junior College chorus leaves for a spring tour this week with a destination in New Orleans. The group, under director guidance, plans performances at multiple venues and aims to showcase college vocal talent across the tour dates.
Farmers must file by April 28 with the county PMA committee to have their cotton allotment figured under the new tonnage law. The acreage increase is to the larger of the farm’s average corn and war crop acreage or the 184 to 410 ratio, not exceeding 40 percent of top land. Farmers may release all or part of their allotment to the county committee without affecting future allotments. Walter Hoels family from Naperville returned to their old hometown for a reunion with relatives in the Norse community. About 92 people attended after services at Our Savior's Church. The gathering honored Walter Hoel, brother of several Hoel family members, with meals at the Parish Hall and warm remarks about the visit. Walter, after college work and a stint in Dallas, married Thelma Syverson and taught in Naperville for 20 years before moving toward Fuk Worth this week.
