Chase Texas remembered as early settlement and post office
The Chase community traces to Thomas Chase a pioneer who raised horses on prairie land. Rhodes from Alabama served as postmaster and ran the first general store until a 1907 fire. The area boasted a gin blacksmith and homes along Chil ders Creek with Rhodes later serving as county commissioner and JP. The fire ended the store and the town faded from memory.
