Pennsylvania Tariff Fight and Local Agrarian Notes
A letter from Clearfield region criticizes Senator Penrose and the Payne Aldrich tariff, urging a protective tariff and progressive legislation. It recalls Pennsylvania’s 1912 Roosevelt endorsement and pledges to press Washington for honest policy. The column also reports on local farming: Mans Read’s corn crib yields, large potatoes from Read and Kine, and rapid construction on John Garns’ house. A curious sight shows young beagle hounds with pigs as a rural vignette.
