Progress at the Silk Mill in Clearfield Nearing Completion
The silk plush mill on the West Side shows tangible progress with machinery arriving and carpenters at work. Delays in lumber slowed interior work while six to twelve painters start soon, with about twelve workers employed by August. The complex will include five large buildings forming an E shaped layout and a 125 foot stack, making Clearfield the second largest silk mill in the state after Hazleton.
