Reverend William Kirk announces a revival meeting at the Stanton courthouse starting Friday December 3. The event seeks to unite churches and save souls with full gospel preaching. Services run 6:30 pm with preaching at 7 pm and may continue three weeks. all county churches urged to spread word.
The Mordecais held a lively meeting at the Methodist church Friday night initiating several new members and planning a big event to raise funds for a town Christmas tree. A committee will settle details and met again Tuesday to organize a program of local talent. The entertainment aims to be the best yet and should attract a large crowd. Further particulars to follow.
Stanton notes Thanksgiving visits as Mollie Johnson Miss Maxie Johnson at State University Lexington. D R Clark back on business. Church funeral for Mrs Bettie Derickson. nine children mourn. Football at Lexington State vs Tennessee praised. Local Educational meeting attendees listed. Miss Tentie Derickson and Mr Jesse Elkins wed at Jackson last Tuesday 22nd. Mrs Neal Ranson to New Concord Ohio for two weeks. Prof Ranson seeks meals while teaching.
Topher Daniels opens a meat market adjoining C. Shimfessel in the Cassidy building to supply fresh home killed meats including beef pork and sausage at low prices. The town celebrates electric lights restoration and various local social notes accompany the business item.
The many friends of Mrs Frances Brown widow of C Jay Brown mourn her death at Middletown Ohio on November 16 after years in Newport and Clarity. She died of dropsy and heart failure at her sister Mrs Thos Cain’s home and was 6 years 6 months 12 days old. Funeral held at Grant’s Lick Kentucky on November 19 with eight sisters and two brothers remaining.
The Clay City National Bank and Powell County Deposit Bank of Stanton publish their reports this issue. Both banks report splendid business and excellent condition despite frequent reports of hard times.
