Powell County Primary Quiet. Road Contract Awarded

The Powell county primary election proceeded without disturbances. Voters backed candidates for governor and other statewide offices. The Powell Fiscal Court awarded a gravel road contract to Williams & Pitzer of Lexington for 2.85 miles from Virden to the Star county line, to be completed by January 1, 1920, with prices cited for earth, aggregate, rock, and concrete. The court plans further road work and names several county officials for various offices.

Colorado visitors visit Mrs Embs kin in Montgomery

Mr and Mrs Geo Holmes of Pueblo Colorado and four children arrived Friday to visit Mrs Maggie Embs and relatives. Holmes formerly Miss Dena Embs sister in law to Mrs Embs. He has traveled in Colorado and Arizona and is improved. Mrs Hanns Abney accompanied them. They traveled by automobile from Pueblo, 11 miles.

Postmaster seeks locate Allie Philips heir for government allotment

Mrs Carrie Groves postmaster received an allotment from the Government this week for Mrs Allie Philips tied to soldier Frank Roser. Philips has not been located as yet. Anyone with information about the parties should contact Mrs Groves at the post office to inform the Government and secure the allotment.

The town Bonch of Trusteve met Friday night and passed routine business. Miss Jennie Quinn of George town was chosen principal for the city graded and high schools. Miss Roth Waeh of Lexington was chosen as teacher of the intermediate grade. No applicants for primary teacher. salary set at 90 dollars monthly for principal and 65 dollars monthly for other teachers.

John W. Mize, a prominent Vaughn's Mill farmer, lost a yearling heifer last week after it ate wilted peach tree leaves. He dissected the carcass to determine cause, finding wilted peach leaves in the stomach. notes that wilted wild cherry leaves are known to kill cattle, but peach leaves' lethality is less recognized.
