An Indiana trucker Leonard Freeman faced 654 in fines after being stopped in Iowa for overloads. John Franklin Parker 91 of Clarinda died Saturday at West Portal Nursing Home. Funeral Monday at Walker Funeral Home with Rev I E Stickelman and Rev Ralph Allen officiating. Burial in Clarinda Cemetery. Survived by six children including James of Clarinda and five daughters. 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Brother Charley Parker. sisters Zetta Phipps and Ida Borden. Family home in Taylor County Siam neighborhood. Lived with children and in nursing homes since Mrs Parker's death four years ago.

Attorney General Norman Erbe issued an opinion that Iowa must now boost state aid to 16 public junior colleges from 25 cents to 1 dollar per pupil. Kiwanis Club pancake feed proved popular and helpful during the Band Jamboree. At Opitz Motor Co used car building setting, L N Hoppock presided while D L Roberts led cooking and cleanup. About 131 pounds sausage used, bacon and eggs served as sausage ran out. gross near $500 with final bills pending.
