Open house for the new McKinley grade school attracted well over 700 attendees including 507 registered adults. Methodist Men Open Six Night Winter Program
The winter program for Methodist Men will feature six evenings beginning October 9 with Glenn Cunningham speaking at 7 20 pm. Death claims Edgar Sump at 46 in Clarinda hospital
Edgar Sump 46 of Yorktown died Monday at Clarinda Municipal Hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage after falling ill Sunday evening. He leaves wife and three children Allen Roger Barbara, mother Ida Sump, a brother Alfred, two sisters Evelyn and Mildred Snively. Funeral 1:30 pm Wednesday at home and 2 pm at St Pauls Lutheran Yorktown with Rev Schroeder. Burial in Clarinda Cemetery.

Homer La Favre Funeral Set in Phoenix Arizona
After a long illness Homer La Favre died Sunday in Phoenix Arizona where he had lived for years. His niece Mrs Edna Morris rushed to be with him and arrived an hour after his death. Funeral is planned for Wednesday in Phoenix. He was formerly a local plumber until ill health prompted a climate change. His wife survives him.
