Circle Eight Opens Fall Dance Season

First Work Begins on County's 56 Bridge Building Program
County Engineer L N Hoppock reported the start of the 1956 bridge building program with Cunningham & Reif Construction Co of Des Moines beginning removal of the old Morton Township bridge between Sections 11 and 14. Five contracts for new farm to market bridges were let by the State Highway Commission this year and steel is expected within about 30 days.

Mearle McKie Dies at Yorktown Farm
Miss Mearle McKie aged 69 died at her Yorktown area farm home northwest of Northboro on Wednesday from a heart attack. The death was found by neighbor Willard Saye as he checked the farm in the evening. She left no immediate family. survivors include a Minnesota niece and two nephews in Colorado and Connecticut. Funeral plans await word from relatives. Hackett Funeral Home of Shenandoah is handling arrangements.
