The 10 year old firm reported assets over 60000 and two factory buildings erected for future industry. Minor crime wave hits Clarinda city
Police Chief C E Reynolds reported a minor crime wave in Clarinda Monday and Tuesday. The American Legion pool was burglarized with 12 swimsuits eight towels two charm bracelets a boy's watch two cases of pop and ice cream stolen. A window on the west side was broken. A lone boy was seen swimming in the closed pool at 5 pm and left before officers arrived. Two stock losses were noted at Desch Electric and Clarinda Outlet a portable radio stolen. Buses were found with lights on at the county youth barn and a fire extinguisher emptied on a bus.

Demonstration Teams Receive Red Ribbons at Iowa State Fair
Four Taylor County 4-H boys demonstrated on August 28 at the Iowa State Fair. Red awards went to Larry Hoffman and James Dwinell of the RJ Producers 4-H Club for showing Reverence to the Flag, and Ben Jetton and Howard Bailey of the Dallas Boys’ 4-H Club for Operating a Fanning Mill. Judge was Dr Earl Raum of Iowa State College.

Ten Commandments Set to Open at Clarinda Theatre
Clarinda Theatre will begin showing the color epic Ten Commandments on Wednesday September 18. Theatre operator Herman Fields secured approval after a Des Moines trip and New York calls, noting it is among the first in its population class in the region. The film cost Cecil B DeMille 11 million dollars and five years to produce and will run at least 10 days with details to follow.

Speed patrol nets sixteen fines on Highway 71
Sixteen motorists were fined a total of 134 dollars after a Saturday night speed check south of Clarinda on Highway 71. Tacker Dale Blesie led the enforcement with a speed tester, policing up to 60 mph. Several drivers faced fines for violations including no license, stop sign failures, or defective equipment.
