Four Injured In Shambaugh Curve Car Crash
Ray mond Turner of Omaha was hospitalized at Clarinda Municipal with injuries from a Highway 71 crash at the curve southwest of Shambaugh at 6 30 am Monday. His wife Shirley Pearl Cavanaugh of Neola and the Turners’ 4 month old baby were also hurt. Turner suffered a broken collar bone and the women were badly bruised with head lacerations. The infant had a single head bruise. The sheriff said Turner veered toward an oncoming car while rolling up a window in rain and the 1953 Ford rolled onto its wheels. In a separate Labor Day crash, Donna Mac Ortt and Jesse Smith escaped injury four miles south of Willisea on Highway 71 after a rear impact damaged both cars.

Explorer Scouts select a 12 day Philmont Ranch program in New Mexico as their major yearly project. About 15 Scouts and three leaders will participate with monthly outdoor activities. Four Year Old Struck By Auto On 17th Street

Former Resident Duke Dies in California at 78
