Cardinal Canteen at Clarinda youth center ends season Friday after a successful year with 5123 total attendees over 92 nights an average of 56 per night. Five classes and school groups held special parties. the canteen will reopen before the first football game in fall with summer work planned including pool table restoration and redecorating as funds allow.

Police Chief C E Reynolds reports a brief auto theft incident in this city. Mrs Blanche Walker left her car with keys in the ignition at 300 E Main St. At 3:15 pm officers found the car half in the street and half in bushes after a youth, unidentifed, lost control while backing from the driveway.

Car Collision Causes $375 In Damage In Clarinda
A two car collision at the intersection of 16th and Logan St Tuesday at 12 15 pm caused an estimated $375 damage. Mrs Lora Rahn stopped at a stop sign and turned right then suddenly to avoid an oncoming car, and Melburn Polsely’s car rear ended hers. Rahn’s 1948 Pontiac rear and Polsley’s 1953 Pontiac front suffered damages totaling $175 and $200 respectively.

Villiscan pleads innocent to drunk driving charge

Lions Club announces additional entrants for the Miss Southwest Iowa Pageant to be held June 20. Gloria Cleaver, 20, from Shenandoah, is a sophomore at the State University of Iowa. She will sing a vocal solo as her talent and has seven years of voice study.
