Memorial Day marks the start of a Tele Sell Tele Manave training program offered by the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee. Three Monday sessions June 9 16 23 at Clarinda High School feature kinescoped broadcasts viewed nationwide with expert talks. Participants pay three dollars for all three sessions and receive business books and materials. Reservations are via the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce office.

Funeral services for Rev Clarence M Eppard 80 were to be held Monday at Early Chapel near Earlham. He lived in Clarinda after retirement and served multiple Christian Church pastorates. Survived by two daughters a son nine grandchildren and two sisters. St John’s Lutheran hosted 300 Des Moines business people as they toured southwest Iowa on a three day goodwill trip.

A new Junior Police unit joins Memorial Day observances, serving as street guards and aiding at the Unknown Soldier grave. The American Legion Pool opens at 1 pm Friday, with golf at Clarinda Country Club starting Friday and the city supervised summer program starting Monday June 2. Police Tighten Enforcement of Clarinda Traffic Rules
Clarinda Chief of Police Curtis Landis announced immediate stricter enforcement of city traffic ordinances. The 85 mph speed limit on Washington and 14th Streets will not take effect until new signs are installed. The 25 mph limit will be enforced now with tickets issued for alley parking and parking on the wrong side of the street.
