Clarinda High School seniors spent Monday in Chicago after a Sunday baccalaureate. They visited Lincoln Park Zoo Maxwell Street Chinatown The Loop Shedd Aquarium and museums then returned to Clarinda. Faculty chaperones included Principal Dale Elmore and Mr Mrs Dean Bailey.

Clarinda will send Sharon Williams to Hawkeye Girls State at Iowa State Teachers College Cedar Falls June 18 to 24. Williams daughter of Mr and Mrs Mason Williams earned the bar in band and an Iowa High School Forensic League award for excellent debate. The American Legion Auxiliary selects delegates on leadership and character with scholastic standing in upper high school class.

Fired psychiatrists dispute roles at Clarinda plan

Gov Norman Erbe will arrive Friday as Clarinda scouts host a Mahaska district camporee at the Mental Health Institute grounds. About 75 scouts and leaders will greet him with flags and a walk along the taxiway. The event includes awards, a Camp Wa kond a neckerchief, and a two day program ending Sunday morning.

Three planeloads departed Clarinda Municipal Airport for a Sunday breakfast flight at Carroll. Harold Davis, Myron Varley, and Don Johnson rode the Inda-Clar Flyers Tri-Pacer. Willard Andrew flew a Bonanza with family. George Pierce piloted a Cessna 180 with relatives and Eldon Fidler aboard. The Dubuque air show with the Navy Blue Angels is the sole event next Sunday. A Hughes 269A helicopter new to the field will be sold by Duncan Corp of Omaha after a demonstration tour. The accident-free landing mishap occurred when a nosewheel sank in soft ground.
