Seventy eight members of the Clarinda High School Class of 1957 will receive diplomas at outdoor commencement before the grandstand at Fairgrounds Park Tuesday. Dr James H Hilton of Iowa State College will deliver the principal address with music by the High School Concert Band and Mixed Chorus.

Clarinda retailers plan to issue jackpot coupons starting Friday allowing customers to win a 1957 Chevrolet 150 two door sedan plus 16 other prizes valued up to $269.95. Fire whistle shorted causes false alarm

Memorial Poppy Day Set for Clarinda by American Legion Auxiliary
Saturday is Memorial Poppy Day in Clarinda with the American Legion Auxiliary organizing the annual sale. Four co chairmen lead the effort Mra A L Warner Mrs R R Oehler Mrs Virgil Bradley and Mrs Dan Mallory. Auxiliary volunteers will sell poppies Friday in shops and Saturday on the streets with Clarinda Camp Fire Girls aiding. Poppies are crafted by veterans in veterans hospitals and proceeds fund rehabilitation and family aid. It takes 10 inches of snow to equal one inch of rain.
