Absentee Ballots Now Available In Page County
County residents away on June 2 may vote absentee in the county auditor's office. Auditor Aletha Hutchings announced absentee voting began Monday and noted service personnel must apply themselves for primary ballots. Ballots sent to those ill or infirm and must be notarized and returned by mail before election day.

Junior Police Intersection Guards For Parade Thursday
Clarinda junior police will guard intersections as Des Moines goodwill visitors march from depot to the business district. The visitors will alight at the railroad and walk west of Main Street to the square. 125 Clarindans attend luncheon at St John’s Lutheran Church at 12 30.

James B Graham arraigned over Thursday shooting spree
James B Graham 25 was bound over to the Grand Jury on a charge of assault with intent to inflict bodily injury after a shooting spree that wounded a 4 year old Clarinda boy. Police said he fired from an upstairs apartment near Dr W G Kuehn's offices and struck at least three targets before arrest.

Braddyville teen awarded Harlan Scholarship
Roger Bales son of Mr and Mrs Clifford Bales of Braddyville has won a Harlan Scholarship from the Iowa Wesleyan College Scholarship Committee. A Braddyville High School graduate he studied pre medical work at Clarinda Junior College for two years and will major in biology with chemistry and languages as minors. Former Amity Resident Lena Beals Price Dies in Loveland
Lena Beals Price 71, a former College Springs resident, died April 24 in Loveland, Colorado, per a niece’s letter. She was curator of Loveland's museum for many years, moved there from College Springs in 1906, with funeral services and interment held April 26 in Loveland.

Army Pvt Sell arraigned on larceny charge in Tarkio
Army Private James Sell, 17, stationed at Ft Leonard Wood Missouri, was arraigned Thursday afternoon before Justice R J McCurdy on a larceny charge. He was arrested at Tarkio May and turned over to Sheriff Stanley Edear. Accused of stealing about 45 hogs and other farm goods across Pave County, he waived preliminary exam and was bound over to District Court. He remains jailed on a 1000 bond.
